Kongur-Tiube (7595 m), one of the summits of the Kongur-Tagh Massif, is the second highest peak of the Western Kun-Lun. Although only 49 metres higher than Muztagh-Ata, Kongur-Tiube is more challenging with its steep snow-ice slopes, complicated terrain and a very high altitude. Not more than 10 expeditions have successfully climbed the mountain since the first ascent in 1956.

Period of the programme: June – September

day 2 – drive to the Torugart Pass, 3-4 hours; crossing the Kyrgyzstan-China border; drive to Kashgar, 3 hours; hotel accommodation; (B)
day 3 – shopping in Kashgar; drive to Karakul Lake, 4 hours; yurt accommodation; (B, D)
day 4 – walk with pack-camels to the Kongur-Tiube Base Camp (4800 m), 8-9 hours; (B, L, D)
day 5/6 – acclimatization walks around the Base Camp area; (B, L, D)
day 7 – Base Camp – Camp 1 (5600 m); (B)
day 8 – Camp 1 – Base Camp; (L, D)
day 9/10 – rest days; (B, L, D)
day 11 – Base Camp – Camp 1; (B)
day 12 – Camp 1 – Camp 2 (6400 m)
day 13 – Camp 2 – Base Camp; (L, D)
